The Season Ended TOO Soon Sunday, September 13, 2009 2:55 AM
UAAP Season is one of my most-awaited times of the year. I’ve been watching for 3 consecutive seasons now. The first season when my addiction started was the same season after the controversial suspension. Archers came back with a bang by grabbing the championship! Vindicated! I was there (in Game 2 vs. The 14-0 game stat of UE)!!! A good game to end Ty Tang & Cholo Villanueva’s term! I again waited for the next season with my certified lucky charms! This season, we only got the 2nd spot, giving away the championship to our rival, ADMU. But, this season was still great as we won every crucial game. We stole the 2nd spot against FEU (that proves that me and my friends are the Archers’ lucky charms hahaha). A time when all Lasallians unite to keep our glory bright. One time, when I can sing the Alma Matter hymn as loud and as proud as I can! A UAAP game can be the most heartfelt or the most heartbreaking point in a certified GREEN ARCHER by heart.
My favourite game would always be a DLSU-ADMU game. The most awaited match by all. It is evident by how hard you can get a good ticket during these games and how scalpers earn a lot of money from avid fans who will and can pay large amounts of money just to see this much-awaited match! The match where Araneta Coliseum turns to a sea of green and blue. Both teams definitely give what the fans deserve, a great game which is so worth it!
And this season, I was only able to watch 3 games live. DLSU-UST where we won after 2 OTs. DLSU-UE and we lost. And, DLSU-FEU where Webb passed by me twice! Hahahahahaha! He’s my fave player! I love watching in the Arena cause I can get a seat near the ring. I can see the players up close. Of course, I watch on tv and cheer with my lungs out and even with clappers (yes, I have lots of them!) I even go to pantry in the office just to have a glance of the game haha! Too bad that the season ended too soon. Though we ran out of good veterans, rookies and sophomores shine the brightest and still gave a good fight! One rare moment when DLSU is not a part of the Final Four. I will just wait again for the next season and I hope next season we will give a GREAT comeback!
