NY is lovelier the second time around Tuesday, December 21, 2010 12:07 AM
Well, this trip has a lot of firsts and loads of fun. :)
This is my longest trip ever! December 12-17, 2010. 6 days of pu re fun and play! This was the longest that I've gone without my family. I feel like a grown up hihihi!
December 12 - First day at NYC! I arrived at JFK airport at around 3:30 p.m. in boots. I arrived at the Millennium Hilton 45 minutes after. I was super tired that day to meet up with Doug, but not too tired to check out Century 21. I also bought my first Starbucks cup to keep me warm. December 13 - First day at the office! As Chris would describe it, I went to a zero minute commute to a 1 minute commute. I was super excited to go to office and see my office mates for 4 days! It was my first time to see all of them in 8 months. We had a welcome dinner for me, Aika and Faithy at Marc Forgione. The dinner was fabulous or should I say bongga?! I could say that dessert time was my favorite. The long brown table was suddenly turned to a dessert-lover's dream. 6 different desserts were served. But, the 3 Manila girls were unstoppable. We headed to Serendipity and tried the famous frozen hot chocolate. I've always wanted to go to Serendipity and it was so fabulous! The decors were sooo pretty! And to make it more memorable, snow fell from the sky.
December 14 - Had an awesome lunch at a fine restaurant which I forgot, but I remembered that I had a super sumptuous Philly Cheesesteak. YUM! After work, we're heading to a skating rink. I know it will be a long walk and my boots are killing me. I hurried to a shoe store after work and had the quickest shoe-shopping ever! 15 minutes! I bought a black suede comfy boots! We then went to Hill Country to have some drinks and food! Hill Country serves a lechon, but according to the Filipino waiter the skin isn't crispy like our lechon. Did you guess that we asked for some skin? HAHAHA. My colleagues mentioned that the moist brisket is a must-try and it was a melt-in-your-mouth goodness. After filling up our stomachs, it's time to skate at Bryant Park. I haven't skated for ages so this is a first skate after a looong time. I fell like 3 times! And I was on the bars the whole while. Chris was my guide. He's drunk but he still can skate! AMAZING! He was so funny when he's drunk! Doug was a good teacher 'cause Faith was able to skate without holding onto anything or anyone! Poor Aika and me HAHA! After the tiring-but-fun skating, we went to Rockefeller Center and saw the giant Christmas tree! The lights we're so festive! We even met some Filipinos from LA.
December 15 - First time to meet Tony! He was so nice! He brought us to Starbucks to have some talk and planned our Times Square trip the following day. Another awesome lunch with the whole team! Faith and I shared over a Ravioli and we should not have done that 'cause it was so good! After work is bowling time! We went to Brooklyn Bowl to get drunk and bowl. This is my favorite night! We had pork rind (or what I call chicharon), pizza, chicken wings and fries! And of course... DRINKS! My first drink was White Russian which has vodka and Kahlua. It was then followed by 2 glasses of some alcoholic lemonade. Then a shot of Kamikaze. And then a shot of Jäger. Everyone's drunk. The boys are singing the American national anthem for me, Joey was dancing, Aika answered 2 on the question 1 * 1 and she keeps on telling us that she's not drunk. And when it was time to bowl, I was really drunk and Chris didn't stop from making me drink something. And as a result, I scored nothing. Every time that I hit the couch, I wanted to sleep. My boss was the first one to pass out. Faithy and I went to the restroom 'cause I feel like throwing up and when we get back, CL already headed home. We headed home at around 1am and Aika was so funny and so drunk. She keeps on talking nonsense and keeps on reciting our room numbers. I knew that I was drunk 'cause I feel like the bed was shaking. This was definitely a first! :D
December 16 - Hangover. I wasn't late 'cause a minute after 8:30 means a shot and I don't want to sleep on a rocking bed again. Aika and I even got to go shopping. It is Times Square day with Tony! Times Square is my favorite place in NYC! With all the glittering lights... ahhh it'll definitely make you feel brand new! It was my first time at Grand Central Station and I felt like I was Serena and Gossip Girl was already sending out a text blast HAHAHA! We headed back to the office to go to Madison Square Garden and watch a hockey game. This is my first time to watch hockey and the New York Rangers won after a shootout! Good thing hockey was an easy sport to understand. After the hockey game, we went to Times Square again to meet up with Tish and have some ice cream at Cold Stone. Yes, ice cream though it was 20+ degrees F. After the ice cream, it's time to warm up. We went Chevy's to grab some margaritas. I had frozen pomegranate margarita. And because I can handle alcohol, Chris and I had a game. The first one to finish his/her drink wins and the loser will have a shot. And I won. That's my last night at NYC! December 17 - aaaww.. my last day at NYC. I woke up early to have some shopping. WEEE! I went to Century 21 and grabbed some gifts for my family and for my closest teammates in Manila. I had to go shopping to get my brother dearest a kaliwaan gift. I know it was so not Jesse to give me a planner so I searched for portable speakers. I went back to the office to say goodbye to the team. It was a supercalifragalisticexpialidocious 6 days!
