According to
Washington Post,
To Save Money is the 2nd most popular NY Resolution. Ooohh yeah, nothing can beat
To Lose Weight. I guess, I think just like how most everyone thinks, I wanna save money.
One of my resolutions this new year is
to refrain from going to the mall and checking online shops. I'm doing well given that we are in the first 25 days of the year and I haven't bought a single piece of clothing, a pair of shoes nor a new bag. However, I have to torture myself and go to malls to buy some presents (lots of birthdays this month and we sent a balikbayan box). My heart broke when I entered Forever 21 and looked for some presents coz I knew I don't need new clothes for myself. It was torture. All I saw were clothes I liked :'( but I survived.
When I went home, I realized that I don't need to buy clothes every time and I shouldn't buy things I don't need. They may be pretty, but a chubby bank account is more appealing to my eyes.
Another resolution I have for this year is
To Keep Track of All My Expenses. And so I made a
Bills Tracker!

With this pink and purple sheet of paper, I can list down all my expenses and see where I'm spending most of my money. In that way, I know where I can cut back if there's a way to. Did you see how big the space was for shopping? I hope I won't be able to fill that up!
I'll be making a
Savings Tracker as well. It would be nice to keep track of how much I am saving paycheck after paycheck. I had just one paycheck as of today and I was able to transfer 53.33% of it to my Savings Account. This tip helped me last year. Whenever there's new money coming in to my checking account, I estimate how much I'll be paying for bills that will come due before the next paycheck comes in. I keep a little on my checking account for unforeseen expenses and for things I want to buy. And the rest goes directly to the Savings Account. When it's there, I can't do anything with it unless my Checking Balance is close to zero.
I hope I can keep up with all of these this year. These resolutions don't have to be so hard unless I'll see flashy signs in bright red with those 4 letters all ladies love,
SALE. It's tempting to buy new clothes and sexy shoes, but the thought of having a chubby bank account in hard economic times is sexier.
